Welcome to the Isle of Axholme and North Nottinghamshire Water Level Management Board website
Drainage boards have been in existence since the 1930's, continually protecting land, property and life against flooding from the sea and rivers. Drainage boards are independent bodies accountable to the local community for the flood protection service they provide.
In response to DEFRA's call for Drainage Boards to grow through amalgamation to deliver greater efficiencies and to prepare them to expand their role in support of the Lead Local Flood Authorities (normally the Unitary Authority or County Council), the Isle of Axholme, Garthorpe, Rivers Idle and Ryton and Everton Internal Drainage Boards joined together in April 2011 to form the Isle of Axholme and North Nottinghamshire Water Level Management Board.
This will help us to be seen as a stronger, credible organisation in the eyes of the Lead Local Flood Authorities and the Environment Agency but, most importantly, enable us to uphold the key elements that have made drainage boards stand up to the test of time and deliver what local people need.
