AX Reforming Works 

Axholme reforming works, the work increases storage capacity of the watercourse, helping to better manage high water levels. During periods of heavy rainfall, the risk of flooding is significantly reduced.

Crying Sand 

What is crying sand and how does it affect us? Crying sand can make riverbanks and coastal edges unstable for several reasons:, low cohesion, water saturation, erosion, vibration and movement. Understanding these factors help us manage and reduced the risk of bank instability in vulnerable areas.

Huttoft Culvert Update

Update for Huttoft Sea Lane, under the road culvert. Concrete has now been successfully delivered and poured. With this stage complete, the team is ready to move ahead to the next phase of the project.

AX Maintenance Works 

Isle of Axholme saw over 5,200metres of drain successfully desilted and reformed, improving conveyance and supporting long-term water management across the area.

Fulbeck Pumping Station Refurbishment 

LMDB has successfully delivered the refurbishment of Fulbeck Pumping Station with Balfour Beatty as the principle contractor. Located within the foreshore of Mablethorpe, the station has been upgraded with 2 new fish safe pumps, a new motor control panel, replacement of the existing sluice gate and external pump and gravity chamber inspection covers. The station better protects 2,842 properties and 365 hectares of agricultural land from the risk of flooding. With thanks to Balfour Beatty Civil Engineering, Pumpflow Ltd, Inter-Lec Ltd and Aquatic Control Engineering.

Water Vole Sighting 

Our Environment Team is currently out across all four boards, surveying our maintained watercourses for Protected Species, including water voles. Signs of latrines, feeding stations and burrows have been abundant so far this year in Lincolnshire, especially where organisations such as the Waterlife Recovery Trust and Nottinghamshire Water Vole Recovery teams are working hard to eradicate mink. Under licence, we monitor populations for up to 3 years on a watercourse that has undergone improvement works. This week brought some very exciting news, not only were the usual signs identified, but a water vole was seen.

Tickhill Tranche 2 

Doncaster East Internal Drainage Board, works at Middle Drain outfall, Dadsley Well Stream, Wellingley Drain and Middle Drain. The works comprised of deepening, widening and desilting the watercourses.

Sutton on Trent Tranche 2 Works 

Trent Valley area has seen the construction of new berms are designed to increase water storage capacity and help protect Sutton on Trent from flooding. Alongside this, culvert installations have been completed to safely manage and control water flow through the area.

Regrowth on Black Syke 

It’s great to see progress on the Black Syke Drain. With vegetation growing back after the reforming works, habitats are being restored and encouraging native species to return.

Black Syke Drain Reforming 

Reforming works have taken place at Black Syke Drain in Axholme, completed by the Axholme DLO. This improves the water flow, increases storage capacity and improves resilience for surrounding farmland.

Boygrift to Anderby Catchment Improvements 

The work is nearing completion in deepening, widening and desilting 3,623 metres of Huttoft Main Drain. Once complete, this will help the Boygrift catchment drain more efficiently by gravity through Anderby during low tides, helping balance flood flows between the two catchments.
